The website Haaiensafari (Shark Safari) is the fictitious web log of the main character from the novel Haaiensafari by novelist René van der Heijden.
The aim of the site is to expand the novel by providing readers background information and a sense of atmosphere about the Bismarck Archipelago, where a part of the novel is situated.
"A sleek website with music" wrote Volkskrant Magazine on March 10 2007 about this website in a report on literary débutantes, among which Van der Heijden.

In order to give the visitor an idea of the atmosphere of the novel, the website offers music and videos.
Visitors can listen to the specially composed Haaiensafari-lounge, packed in a Flash animation of a cassette tape , and view a video clip of a Shark Caller from the Bismarck Archipelago.
The sub menus are made out of Flash animations with environment pictures. The website has also a forum for readers of the novel, a ticker tape with news flashes and links to radio and tv programmes about the novel.
